Behind The Scenes - TAG Heuer

We just updated the watch database with TAG Heuer's current collection of about 460 references.

We know TAG Heuer for their sporty collections around motor sports and aquatics. This sporty appeal and the attractive price range make the watches a popular choice for the younger generation.

TAG Heuer also combines the art of watchmaking with the Smartwatches of the Connected collection. Although the watches still stand pretty much side by side, it will be interesting to see how these separate segments develop and possibly start to intersect more and more in the future.

And finally, if you are tired of round watches, look no further. TAG Heuers Monaco watches offer a classic - some say iconic -  square look.

In my personal opinion, TAG Heuer will always be connected to motor sport. This probably does not do their whole collection justice, but the Carrera collection, the Formula 1 and and the Moncao watches breath a lot of automotive DNA. That being said, the second largest collection, however, is the Aquaracer

TAG Heuers watches mostly play in a price range below CHF 5'000. A third of the references lies below CHF 2'000, and a forth each between 2'000 and 3'000 as well as 3'000 to CHF 5'000.

For less than 1'000CHF, you will get a Formula 1 driven by a Swiss quartz movement. The most expensive reference is a Connected Modular  with a white gold case and several handful of diamonds on the bezel, the case, the lugs, the bracelets. If you should find yourself in a position where you are looking for a Smartwatch with a sparkle ... here you have it.

More than two thirds of the references are chronographs. They come in different varieties as the brand's own movements HEUER 01, HEUER 02, and Caliber 1887 as well as various versions base on the widely known work horses from ETA and Selitta.

The typical materials for a TAG Heuer watch are steel, titanium. and ceramic. Having set this, there are some reference in rose or yellow gold and - as mentioned before - some references are adorned with diamonds

Also, a "typical" TAG Heuer sports a black dial, followed by blue, silver, anthracite, and white.

Counting by references, a typical Tag Heuer is round (or nearly round). However, one of the brand's most iconic pieces, the TAG Heuer Monaco (iconic as in "worn by Steve McQueen in the movie "Le Mans" ... although I believe that was before my time) features a pleasing square case with 2 horizontally arranged counters for the chronograph minutes and the running seconds. If you are interested, Alexander also just published a short post about a Monaco special edition: click here to have a look.

Please let me know if your are missing references on the platform. Or if you find information that is wrong or missing.

I also invite you to leave your comments and questions about the watches. Especially if you can share you own experiences with the watch. Your fellow community members will be grateful for your advice ...

Enjoy the watches!
